Please note that students will no longer be required to be enrolled at UCF to receive their associate’s (AA) degree. Degrees are conferred three times a year: May, August, and December and generally awarded within one month of the end of the term. Students must apply for an AA degree in the semester in which they want it conferred.

Academic records cannot be altered after a degree is awarded. Coursework taken prior to the awarding of an AA degree will not be eligible for grade forgiveness. Students are strongly encouraged to consult with their Academic Success Coach (ASC) in the college of their major prior to completing an application.

Application Deadlines:

An AA degree is awarded only upon application. Applications open on the first day of the semester and must be submitted within one month from the first day of class. Students will receive the AA degree designation on their official transcript following the end of the semester when all degrees are certified, regardless of their enrollment status.

  • Applications for the Spring 2026 semester will be accepted from January 12, 2026, through February 12, 2026. Applications must be received by the close of the business day on February 12, 2026, no exceptions.
  • Applications for the Summer 2026 semester will be accepted from May 13, 2026, through June 13, 2026. Applications must be received by the close of the business day on June 13, 2026, no exceptions.

Degree Conferral

Following the posting of final grades at the end of the term, the degree audit will be reviewed and certified if all requirements are met. The degree is awarded approximately 4 weeks after the end of the semester regardless of the student’s enrollment status.

An AA degree will not be awarded if you have already filed an Intent to Graduate for your baccalaureate degree or if you apply for your AA in any term following the completion of the baccalaureate degree.
To receive an AA degree, you must satisfy the following requirements:

  • A minimum 2.0 UCF GPA as well as a minimum 2.0 overall cumulative GPA.
  • Complete UCF’s General Education Program requirements (36 hours minimum).
  • Satisfy State Writing and Math Requirements.
  • Complete at least 60 total credit hours.
  • Satisfy the state’s competency requirement in a foreign language equivalent to two years of high school instruction or one year of college instruction in the same language.
  • Complete at least 30 credit hours in residence at UCF.
  • Satisfy the state Civic Literacy requirement. For detailed information regarding this requirement, please visit undergrad.ucf.edu/req/civic-literacy.

Once the degree is awarded and the student is notified via email, they can request an official transcript via the Official Transcript Request page. Fees are required for each transcript ordered.

Students will also receive an email from Parchment.com with a link to the digital copy of the diploma approximately 6-8 weeks after the term ends. Students wishing a hard copy of the AA diploma, will need to submit a request for a diploma as they are not automatically sent.
